Solar-Powered Shunt Active Power Filter Using an Advanced Inverter Topology ZSI: A Review

Shunt active power filters (SHAPF), a well-known kind of cutting-edge technology, can use to address current issues with harmonics and reactive power compensation, even balancing various currents. It is acknowledged as the most incredible dependable tool in this approach. It functions by first locating the perturbation currents that are introducing themselves into a power system contaminated by harmonics, poor power factors, and/or unbalanced consumption currents. Next, it generates and introduces a corrective mitigation current into the power system to eliminate, compensate, and/or balance all the detected perturbation currents. This article provides a comprehensive review of the SHAPFs' current control. The review covered a number of different methods for controlling the current, such as hysteresis and parabolic. Moreover, various control strategies such as PSO-GWO, DPC-SVM, and AI-based techniques have been addressed. Ultimately the overall effectiveness of the system is examined. In addition, Photovoltaic (PV) power has gained more interest as it uses renewable energy and possesses low running costs. Solar powered-SHAPF with the use of a Z-Source Inverter (ZSI) to improve the quality of the power has been discussed. The present paper reviews the SHAPF control techniques, solar-powered SHAPF, an analysis of ZSI, and PV-based SHAPF with ZSI. The paper's main aim is to elucidate the control techniques and provide an overview of the solar-powered SHAPF using ZSI. The recent research works (2018– 2023) related to PV-based SHAPF linked by ZSI are considered in this paper for review. That review would guide future research and helps to increase the effectiveness of Solar-Powered SHAPF Using ZSI.
